Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth, closed its eight-day extended opening week at approximately Rs 374 crore gross in India. The film crossed the Rs 600 crore mark worldwide on its eighth day, becoming the second-highest-grossing Tamil film of all time.

The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial released in theatres worldwide on October 15, 2026, ahead of the Dussehra weekend. It has set a new record for the biggest first week for a Kollywood film, surpassing the previous benchmark held by 2.0.

Extended Week Breakdown in India

Jailer 2 opened with a massive Rs 67.50 crore gross on its first day. The film sustained strong momentum through the weekend, earning Rs 42.25 crore on Friday, Rs 52 crore on Saturday, and Rs 61.50 crore on Sunday.

The Dussehra holiday on Tuesday boosted collections to Rs 52.50 crore, following a Monday haul of Rs 48.25 crore. The film then saw its first significant drop on Wednesday, collecting Rs 31.50 crore, before earning Rs 18.50 crore on Thursday.

Territory-wise, Tamil Nadu contributed the largest share with Rs 139 crore, followed by the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region at Rs 71.25 crore. Karnataka added Rs 64 crore, Kerala contributed Rs 63 crore, and the rest of India brought in Rs 36.75 crore.

Worldwide Milestone and Records

Jailer 2 has now surpassed the lifetime worldwide collections of its predecessor, Jailer (Rs 604 crore), as well as Leo (Rs 605 crore) and Coolie (Rs 518 crore). Only Shankar’s 2.0, which grossed Rs 691 crore, remains ahead in the list of highest-grossing Tamil films.

The film is expected to overtake 2.0 in the coming days and may become the first Tamil film to cross the Rs 700 crore mark worldwide.
