Mohanlal has praised Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion, calling it a befitting end to the Hindi franchise. The Malayalam superstar, who originated the role of Georgekutty in the original Drishyam films, shared his thoughts in a video message on October 12, 2026.
The film has earned over Rs 479.80 crore worldwide within 10 days of its release. It has become Ajay Devgn’s first film as a lead actor to cross the Rs 300 crore net mark in India.
Mohanlal’s Message
Mohanlal said, ‘I watched Drishyam: The Conclusion, and I am truly impressed with the way they have brought a much-loved journey to a befitting end. Congratulations to Abhishek Pathak, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the entire cast and crew on a job so well done.’
The video was shared online by the team behind the Hindi film. Mohanlal’s praise carries weight because the Hindi franchise began as a remake of his 2013 Malayalam film.
Box Office Performance
After 10 days, Drishyam: The Conclusion has collected Rs 370.80 crore gross and Rs 309 crore net in India. Its worldwide total stands at Rs 479.80 crore.
The film earned Rs 22.50 crore on its second Sunday from 14,872 screens. Its opening day collection on October 2 was Rs 61 crore from 17,323 screens, making it one of the biggest Hindi film openings.
Its second weekend added Rs 63.50 crore to the domestic total. The film has now become Ajay Devgn’s highest-grossing film as a lead actor.
A Different Path from the Original
Unlike the first two Hindi films, Drishyam: The Conclusion features an original story developed for the Hindi version. The Malayalam Drishyam 3, also released in 2026, took a different narrative route.
Ajay Devgn said at FICCI Frames, ‘The original one they did not have Akshay Khanna’s character as such but 3 is a completely new script. They are two very different films. The way Abhishek and the writers have worked so hard on the script for the past maybe two years that it really really gives you a high.’
He added, ‘The way it has shaped up the scripting and the way Abhishek has made the film, I think it has come out fabulous. That’s when we decided that it should be the conclusion.’
Cast and Production
Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, with Tabu as Meera Deshmukh and Shriya Saran as Nandini. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the cast as SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, the investigating officer.
The ensemble also includes Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Abhishek Pathak directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Panorama Studios. It released theatrically on October 2, 2026.
Critical Reception
Reviews have been largely positive. Filmfare rated the film 3.5 out of 5, noting that the second half builds tension steadily and keeps its surprises hidden.
The courtroom sequences in the final stretch have been singled out for praise. Prakash Raj and Samvedna Suwalka appear in these scenes as opposing lawyers.
Some reviewers noted that the film follows the franchise’s established template rather than reinventing it. The Times of India called it ‘crowd-pleasing’ with ‘mounting tension.’
Drishyam: The Conclusion continues its theatrical run. It is expected to cross the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide in the coming days.
